Some of the organisations that are helping manage the impact of global warming on coasts are the Council of Australian governments (COAG), the Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council (NRMMC) and the Department of Climate Change. Local councils are incorperating sea-level rise projections into their plans. Rising sea levels are a threat to coastal communities as each year goes on. Eventually, it is estimated that lots of houses and buildings will be flooded or underwater by 2050 if nothing is done to help.
An organisation that is helping coastal pollution is Coastal Catchments Initiative (CCI). They are protecting the water quality by reducing sedimentation, algal blooms, discharges of polluted water into coastal waters, and high-coliform (harmful bacteria) concentrations that require beach closures.
